The Hunter's Guide to Rhok'delar!

Rhok'delar and Lok'delar are still to this day some of the best hunter weapons to date and the quest has only gotten easier. To obtain these weapons you need two items. Ancient petrified leaf which drops in Domo's chest in Molten Core and Mature black dragon sinew which drops from Onyxia. These are really easy to obtain these days since there are Molten Core and Onyxia pugs in just about every server. The leaf has a 50% chance to drop and the sinew is around 20%. You only need the leaf to start and do the quest but will need to turn in the sinew in order to get the rewards. Now that the easy part is done lets get to the fun stuff.

The quest requires you to kill 4 demons which now spawn for 15 minutes and then despawn for 15 so its fairly easy to catch them. This used to be 3 hours, which could get really frustrating. The demons must be killed ALONE, so no pets and no help from other players except to maybe buff you before you start the encounters. This quest isn't meant to be difficult, it is meant to teach a hunter how to play the hunter class better. It requires you to do a lot of different things for different scenarios. For example you must melee, kite, learn to crowd control and kill in 2v1 scenarios and just overall basics. Each demon is meant to challenge the hunter to use different methods to kill them. If anyone but the hunter goes near the demons they will kill him with a powerful AoE. If anyone else but the hunter hits the demon or the hunter gets healed or any kind of beneficiary buff it will despawn.

Buffing
They all can easily be soloed without any buffs but self buffs but more stats can never hurt. You will want to try to get Fort, Mark of the wild, Arcane intellect and blessing of wisdom. This goes for all encounters except for the Silithus one you will need shadow resist pots and nature resist for Un'goro.

Consumables
Major mana potions.
Major health potions.
Warlock Healthstones.
Mongoose potions.
Shadow resist.
Nature Resist.

The quest begins in Felwood near the Ironwood Trees. Each guardian will give you a different quest. (staff, bow, quiver).

Kilfran (Burning Steepes)

This demon is one of the easiest but one mistake can cost you everything. He patrols outside the Blackrock Mountain entrance in Burning Steepes. He is meant to test your melee skills. He looks like a human when not in demon shape.

Strategy to kill this guy is to melee him. Scorpid sting (highest rank) will make him hit for only one damage per hit. So basically what you do is pull him with and Aimedshot, Multishot and automatically scorpid sting. Then move in and melee him, just three hits with a weapon close to 3.0 speed and more with faster weapons. After that you must wingclip and get out of range. Wait for him to enrage again and when he does (turns red) use another scorpid sting and move into melee range. Do not use raptor strike because it will only waste your mana. If he hits you while he is enraged he will do over 2000 damage per hit. If that happens then you can either feign death and reset the fight or scatter shot him and move out of range, then WAIT for the enrage to go away, then scorpid sting and go back in to melee. One of the easiest demons but one mistake and he will 2 shot you. Note: do not use demonslaying on your weapon since the stun will mess up the timing on his enragesand becomes harder to get back into track.

Simone (Un'Goro Crater)

Simone patrols around the big lake in west Un'Goro. She will be found as a troll with a pet wolf. For this fight farm some air elementals in Westfall until you get a sleeping potion.

After you spawn her move away and drink a nature resist potion. Put on aspect of the wild. Wait for the cooldown to go to about 30 second then you can pull. Start off far from her and drop a freezing trap in front of you. Pull her will aimedshot>multishot>concusive to slow her down so the pet will land in the trap. Vipersting will silence her for 15 seconds. She must also be melee'd down since she will put a debuff on you lowering your ranged attack power by 1400. So once the pet is frozen then start to melee and raptor strike spam. She does a lighting bolt spell that can be interrupted by scatter shot if not it will be absorbed by the nature resist potion. When her pet unfreezes then use the potion you got in westfall sleep it. The demon will soon be dead and hit fairly low in melee damage. One mistake I made when I did my quest was that I thought I needed to kill the demon and her pet. That is not the case, when she dies you can feign death and the pet will go away and you can loot her head.

Artorius (Winterspring)

He looks like a taurren before you spawn him. Found in north Winterspring just east of the road.

This guy is very easy to kill if you can kite, if you can't kite well then I'll teach you the easy way to do it. Try to spawn him as close to the road as you can since you will want to kite him along the road towards everlook. This demon hit hard in melee and put a dot on you that turns u into a demon and does 350 dmg every 3 seconds for one minute. So if you get this just FD and try to survive to try it again. Serpent sting does 350% extra damage to him and will stack to do more damage. He however is very easy to kite. Open up with a aimeshot multishot combo and make sure cheetah is on. Start to autorun away from him and every 6 seconds keep him tagged with arcane shot rank 1 and also use serpent sting (highest rank) every 6-8 seconds also. To kite all you need to do is autorun, bind you arcane shot and serpent sting to two buttons and then all that you need to do is hit the spacebar to jump, while holding the right click button on the mouse flick your hand to the left once you have turned around click the button for the shot you want to use then flick you hand back and you should be facing the correct way before you even land therefore not losing ground on the demon. You might want to get a friend to run in front of you and train all the mobs on him but it's easy to do alone also. Remember to kite him to the road as it will be much easier and its free of mobs. Use a mana potion for this one.

Solenar (Silithus)

He can be found just east of the AQ area. He looks like a cute little gnome but as you will find out is just about the hardest demon you have to kill. For him you will need shadow resist potions, and a healthstone from a warlock. Before you start the encounter you should pull him into a frost trap first to dispel his enrage and then feign death and reset him. OK so first drink a shadow absorb potion. Wait about 2 min so it will be ready for you to use again when the 1st one is used up. His weakness is that wingclip (rank 3 only) will immobolize him. He also spawns little bugs that try to get to you, they have low hp but hit hard and fast (400dps). He fears you occasionally and if there are more than 5-6 bugs up he will intentionally fear you into the bugs which usually means death. So when he is immobilized move around in circles around him, use multishot rank 1 to kill the bugs and if there are more than 5-6 bugs use volley rank one but use it in between you and the bugs so they run into it and it kills them all. You might also want to grab some EZ throw dynamite. So start with aimed shot, let him come to u and wingclip, get range, move around and autoshoot and use rank one multishot. When he starts to move again start walking backwards and let him come to you then wingclip again. He does a shadow damage spell that hits for about 900 but this is easy to overcome with about 4000hp and two shadow resist potions. So as long as you keep the bugs under control and keep less and 6 around then this fight is pretty easy. Just make sure to keep your range and autoshoot him to death. Also serpent sting should be up at all times for the extra dps. So remember to keep running around, keep the bugs under control, use volley when its up and you will have yourself a great pair of weapons.
